You need to know how to prioritize projects and what emergencies you need to work on. You have to understand to make a balance between costs and what needs to be done.

Leaders need to care about their people, need to be visible and approachable, and need to be engaged. A maintenance manager cannot be sitting in their office and never go down to the floor.
What’s my job? How to hire a maintenance manager
What should HR be looking for in a maintenance manager? Is it technical skills or something else? It really comes down to having the leadership skills and people skills. Maintenance managers can learn some technical skills. The most important thing is if you hire a good leader, you need to be trained in reliability.
